Kentucky Derby Party at Ray's On The River, Sandy Springs

Ray's On The River in Sandy Springs marked two things at once on May 2, 2026: Derby Day and the reopening of its newly renovated lawn. Around 100 guests came out for the afternoon, and one Alisa Maxime Studio artist sketched on the lawn for four hours in the Runway style, finishing 48 portraits.

Derby parties are made for fashion sketching. Guests dressed for the occasion, and the artist had a full range of outfits to work from as people wandered over between the race coverage and the bar. The weather cooperated completely, with sun the whole afternoon and a relaxed, celebratory crowd spread across the new lawn. Each finished 5x7 drawing went straight into the guest's hands, a small souvenir of a Derby Day spent by the river.
